About the Concert

Dolce Piano and Music LLC presents Dolce Piano Recital Series: Classical to Contemporary featuring pianist Dr. Yingqi Wang on Feb. 7 at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts. The one-hour program traces a path from Classical intensity to contemporary sound worlds, with works by W. A. Mozart, Johannes Brahms, Zhang Zhao, and Philip Glass.

The recital opens with Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 8 in A minor, K. 310, followed by Brahms's Rhapsody in G minor, Op. 79, No. 2. The program then turns to contemporary repertoire with Zhang Zhao (b. 1964) and his piano work "Pi Huang," before concluding with Philip Glass (b. 1937) and Étude No. 7.

Dr. Wang is a Boston-area pianist and educator whose work bridges Western classical traditions and Chinese musical aesthetics. She earned the Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in Piano Performance from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where she studied with Paul Barnes. Her cross-cultural focus is informed by research on the piano works of Jianzhong Wang and her lecture-recital East Meets West: Fusion in Jianzhong Wang's Piano Works. In 2025, she appeared in solo recitals at Westbrook Recital Hall (Lincoln), M. Steinert & Sons (Newton), and Boston's Piano Craft Gallery.
